About the role

MAKERS architecture and urban design, LLP is seeking a creative, independent, and collaborative Facility Designer for our federal practice. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an employee-focused culture, learn and collaborate with experienced architects, landscape architects, and planners, and work with a team of listeners, hard workers, innovators, collaborators, and problem-solvers. Our federal work blends architecture and planning to help agencies and their projects “get off on the right foot.” Primary clients include the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. We offer the opportunity to be involved in highly creative planning and pre-design stages, shape some of the most consequential aspects of projects, and positively impact the agencies we serve. This position can be based in our Seattle or San Diego office. We support partial work-from-home arrangements with a mix of in-office and site work required.

  • Creating conceptual building plans, diagrams, and other graphics.

  • Managing tasks or projects including budget, time, and team deliverables.
  • Planning and facilitating interactive workshops and other engagement activities.
  • Collaborating with clients, colleagues, and team members to deliver successful results.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience performing work in a professional setting related to architecture or facility planning, preferably for large institutional clients.
  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in architecture or closely related field.
  • Registered Architect or on the path to licensure.
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage budget and time in a team environment.
  • Technical writing skills for report production, data management and other documents.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to conduct field work which may include travel.

Skills

  • Previous experience with military or federal planning (desired).
