FDOT E&O Program Lead

RS&H is seeking an FDOT E&O Program Lead to oversee and manage the Florida Department of Transportation’s maintenance program in Tallahassee, FL.

About the role

This position manages operations of the FDOT warehouse and maintenance yard, including equipment operation, inventory tracking, equipment and facility maintenance, and emergency response. The role requires travel, after-hours responsiveness, and coordination during emergency events.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced maintenance and transportation engineering duties for the FDOT warehouse and maintenance yard program.
• Plan and direct workloads, deadlines, work objectives, and time utilization for subordinate staff.
• Recommend production planning, scheduling, safe work procedures, and innovative work methods.
• Oversee in-house work crews to maximize time and resources safely, including setting priorities for routine maintenance activities.
• Monitor daily crew reports for accuracy.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance services for the Department fleet, ensuring proper documentation.
• Coordinate the Emergency Management Program, ensuring resource allocation during natural disasters and emergencies.
• Ensure cost accounting measures are followed for potential federal reimbursement.
• Coordinate Occupational Health and Safety and Hazardous Material Programs.
• Plan and coordinate field work activities, facility maintenance, and miscellaneous projects.
• Review, research, and implement repairs and improvements to facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Minimum 7 years of experience leading engineering maintenance programs or teams.
• Knowledge of transportation engineering principles and practices.
• Skilled in management principles, conflict resolution, and problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to administer multiple projects, prioritize needs, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering data, plans, specifications, and manuals.
• Experience performing field inspections and evaluations, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports.
• Strong leadership skills, including supervising, motivating, and training diverse teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to interpret and apply state and federal policies, regulations, and guidelines.

Schedule

• Based in Tallahassee, FL with up to 50% travel, including during emergency response events.
• Responsiveness required after hours, on weekends, and during emergencies.
