Fay Food Service Assistant
About the role
Prepare, serve, and deliver meals and snacks, assist in cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Timely preparation and service of meals and snacks
- Cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, dishes, floors, and utensils
- Ensuring proper storage of all foods
- Preparation of special items, desserts, fruits, pureed foods, and thickened fluids
- Maintaining order and cleanliness in coolers, freezers, and store room
- Setting up tray line and assembling trays for meal service
- Communicating with nursing staff and food service management regarding problems or complaints
- Preparing dirty trays, plates, glasses, silverware for dishwashing
- Operating dish machine correctly, checking and recording water temperatures, taking corrective action as necessary
- Ensuring safety and proper handling of chemicals
- Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and equipment
- Performing compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Adhering to DCH Mission, Vision, and Values
- Ensuring safety of patients, visitors, and employees
- Identifying and reducing unsafe practices
- Reducing risks and hazards to promote safety
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. On the job training, no previous experience required. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Must be able to exert 10 pounds of force constantly, lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 50 pounds with assistance on an occasional basis. Must be able to adapt to change in temperatures and must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet. Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
Skills
Must be able to work and get along with a variety of personalities, be a team player, remain calm under stress, and concentrate on multiple tasks at one time.
