Fatal Overdose Review Team Coordinator

Full-time county contractual position located at 711 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

About the role

This position resides within the System Training Education and Prevention Program under the Behavioral Health Bureau. The Fatal Overdose Review Team (FORT) Coordinator will oversee all functions of the Fatal Overdose Review Team, which includes representatives from county and private agencies. The team reviews individual fatal and non-fatal overdoses to understand causes and incidences of drug overdoses in the county and develops plans to prevent overdose deaths.

Responsibilities

• Review data from the Chesapeake Regional Information System (CRISP) and the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) to select cases for review.
• Analyze CRISP data for bi-monthly meetings and schedule/plan all Fatal Overdose Review Team meetings.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to implement Fatal Overdose Review Team recommendations, including the Overdose Prevention team and subcommittees.
• Conduct research on recommendations made in meetings and develop/maintain a strategic plan for implementation.
• Work with community partners to implement selected recommendations.
• Complete all required reports to the Maryland Overdose Fatality Review office, develop meeting minutes, and secure presenters as needed.
• Collect, interpret, and analyze data to improve substance use prevention programming for the Fatal Overdose Review Team and the System Training Education and Prevention program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, health care administration, behavioral health, social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• At least 2 years of related professional work experience; OR a Master’s degree in one of the fields listed above and one year of related experience.
• Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with needs assessments, strategic planning, public speaking, and meeting facilitation.
• Understanding of complex public health-related issues.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to accomplish objectives.

Skills

• Strong background in behavioral health (substance use/primary prevention and harm reduction strategies).
• Meeting facilitation and grant management.
• Program evaluation and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Leadership of a multidisciplinary team.
