FAST Labs™ is a world-class research and microelectronics production organization within BAE Systems Electronic Systems (ES). We secure the future through fearless innovation, developing advanced capabilities in electronics, sensors, processing, AI, autonomy, RF, EO/IR, and cyber. The MAX Technology Area Director (TAD) leads a portfolio of technologies and programs focused on RF/cyber capabilities for the Department of Defense (DoD). This role is based in Merrimack, NH, and requires full-time onsite work due to the need for in-person collaboration. The position reports directly to the A3 Product Line Director and involves mentoring junior staff, aligning customer goals with business expectations, and ensuring cultural alignment with A3 principles of Inclusion, Balance, and Continual Improvement.
This role requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of programs, including development, growth, and execution of portfolio strategy to expand the R&D pipeline while transitioning mature technologies to business areas.
- Align and facilitate the transition of capabilities into Electronic Systems Business Areas.
- Execute programs with a multidisciplinary, cross-functional team.
- Align external customer goals with internal business expectations for successful delivery of business objectives.
- Mentor and grow junior technology development managers and scientists.
- Ensure alignment with A3 cultural principles: Inclusion, Balance, and Continual Improvement.
- Accountable for all aspects of project initiation, planning, and execution, including cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, and customer engagement.
- Ensure integrated project team commitments are met and projects align with financial targets for orders, sales, profit, and cash flow.
- Demonstrate understanding of life cycle management and knowledge of defense contract types.
- Provide strong communication, both internally and customer-facing.
- Capture and lead projects at the cutting edge of technology.
- Define, propose, and lead independent research and development.
- Drive business development and program capture initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of professional experience, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of professional experience, or a doctorate with 8+ years of professional experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to attain DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Strong desire to collaborate with internal and external customers to improve technology proliferation.
- Experience providing technical and management leadership to diverse teams of scientists, engineers, and managers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrable entrepreneurial drive and business development/program capture experience.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $173,023 – $294,137. Individual salaries are determined by factors such as business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, including skills, education, and experience.
