Objectives of this Role
- Conduct pre-operative assessments of patients to determine their medical status and readiness for surgery.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on medical history, surgical requirements, and patient needs.
- May assist the surgical team during the operation by anticipating needs and providing support.
- Monitor patients post-operatively, manage pain, prevent complications, and promote healing.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nurses.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Skills and Qualifications
- Highly skilled at assessing patients prior to surgery and providing them with perioperative care.
- Extensive knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Solid understanding of patient health and safety standards.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Must hold current license/registration to practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Familiar and competent in participating in the performance of orthopedic and spinal surgical procedures, including interventional injections.
- Proficiency in EHR medical charting system and other computer software needed, including eClinical Works and/or Athena.
