Farrowing Technician

About the role

The Farrowing Technician is responsible for assisting in the care and management of sows and piglets during the critical early stages of their lives. This includes monitoring health, providing feed and water, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the farrowing area
• Monitor sow and piglet health and provide necessary care
• Administer medications and treatments as needed
• Ensure proper feeding and watering of pigs
• Assist in the handling and transportation of pigs
• Document all activities and observations accurately

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in animal care or related field preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good physical condition to perform manual labor
• Valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic computer literacy

• Knowledge of animal husbandry practices
