About the role

Carolina Flowers is a florist and 30-acre flower farm serving Asheville, NC, and beyond. We create designs for weddings and events throughout Western North Carolina, Charlotte, and Greenville, and we offer daily flower deliveries for our Asheville customers. Our West Asheville location handles daily deliveries, while our Hendersonville location focuses on farming and designing wedding and event orders. We are in a period of growth and seek a career-oriented Farmer to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Support the Farm Manager in all farm tasks, including harvesting, planting, weeding, soil prep, staking, irrigation, composting, maintenance, and cleanup.
• Grow dozens of floral crops, ensuring proper water, nutrition, pest/disease management, and support for growing habits.
• Maintain, harvest, and handle flowers according to specific requirements.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, rain, snow) with resilience and a positive attitude.
• Collaborate with a team of four farmers and a total staff of about 15 across both locations.
• Follow established growing practices, ask clarifying questions, and apply feedback to improve.
• Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods regardless of weather.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly.
• At least two seasons of commercial farming experience.
• Openness to feedback and ability to improve based on direction.
• Manual dexterity and strong organizational skills.
• Upbeat, positive attitude and enthusiastic team player.
• Resilient, indefatigable, punctual, and reliable.

Preferred Experience

• Operating a hydrostatic (automatic) tractor or BCS/walk-behind tiller.
• Cut flower or diversified vegetable growing experience.
• Knowledge of flower names.
