Farm Hand (Clay Center, NE)
Position Information
The U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) is a 34,000-acre facility near Clay Center, NE. All work performed at USMARC supports research that is focused on solving high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries. As a Farm Hand, you will:
- Perform all activities associated with irrigated forage production including but not limited to tillage, planting, chemical applications, irrigation and harvesting operations.
- Routine equipment maintenance and repair.
- Assist other operational areas including but not limited to livestock feeding and care, fence installation and repair, building /facility maintenance.
About the Role
Irregular hours and work in inclement weather required. Due to the size of the facility, a valid driver’s license is required to travel between sites. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an Ag Research Technician I. Note: Sponsorships will not be offered for this position.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of experience in agriculture. Additional relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and perform basic repair of agricultural field equipment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet UNL driver eligibility requirements.
