About the Role

The FAO Schwarz Toy Specialist blends high-touch retail selling with dynamic, interactive experience facilitation. This role drives sales by delivering signature FAO experiences and creating magical, memorable moments for guests of all ages. Toy Specialists are experts in the Jewel Box, a rotating collection of FAO brand experiences, and are accountable for mastering each experience, booking and facilitating appointments, and adapting as experiences, products, and processes evolve throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-house experiences consistently in line with guidelines while adding individual flair to make each experience unique.
• Embody characters unique to each experience through costumes, props, scripting, and backstories.
• Engage and delight guests using the FAO Schwarz selling vision.
• Build authentic connections with guests, sometimes handling multiple guests simultaneously.
• Demonstrate product knowledge by introducing key items based on guest needs.
• Confidently showcase product features to help guests explore and engage with the assortment.
• Support with stock refilling and other product tasks.
• Maintain understanding of store layout and local area to handle guest queries effectively.
• Process POS transactions accurately, adhering to policies and procedures.
• Maintain floor layout and planograms daily using basic merchandising principles.
• Wear and maintain a provided uniform, including a branded shirt and apron.

Requirements

• 1+ year experience in a fast-paced premium retail or experience-based environment preferred.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform in front of large audiences or one-on-one to drive sales.
• Experience in performance, acting, music, or dance a plus.
• Familiarity with premium or experience-based retail a plus.
• Engaging and theatrical personality that captivates audiences.
• Ability to remain positive and in character for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work a schedule based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

• Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Handle bulky and awkwardly shaped items, including lifting above the head.
• Regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Pay

$19.25 per hour.
