Job Summary
Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents. Supervisory and teaching responsibilities, including documentation of supervision, coordination of curricular content with program director, and evaluation of residents. Responsible for appropriate behavioral science curriculum components and coordinate these with the general curriculum of the residency program director to include regular presentations, workshops, group meetings, and invited guests. Maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the students in the core clerkship curriculum. Works closely with Palliative Care and Geriatric divisions.
Major Job Functions
- Teach practical application of behavioral science concepts on FMIS.
- Develop curriculum, and execute and teach didactics in law-related issues to residents (ie domestic violence, mandated reporting, hospital policies and procedures, boundaries, communication with attorneys).
- Teach business practice management by teaching didactics regarding law-related issues (ie contracts, expert testimony, statutory and constitutional and regulatory law issues).
- Teach office management issues (personality typology, managing people, identifying skills vs. talents of office staff).
- Facilitate Team Case Discussions with Faculty Physicians.
- Develop and teach the geriatric/palliative care behavioral science curriculum.
- Round with the Family Medicine Inpatient Service team, nursing home, and home visits assisting physicians and patients with Behavioral Science needs.
- Provide care and counseling in an outpatient setting at Family Health Center.
- Actively participate in Medical Staff and Hospital Committees.
Measurement
- Resident Education: Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas: Behavioral Science, Medical Knowledge, Practice Based Learning and Improvement, Communication/Interpersonal Skills, Professionalism; and Systems-Based Practice.
- Geriatric Fellowship Education: Teach the geriatric/palliative care behavioral science curriculum.
- Medical Student Education: Maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the students in the core clerkship curriculum.
- Fellowship Education: Develop and Teach the geriatric/palliative care behavioral science curriculum.

Job Criteria
- Education: PhD or equivalent; Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
- Experience: 5 Years graduate or professional level teaching experience; 5 years experience in psychotherapy; Interdisciplinary collaboration expertise.
- Certification/License/Registration: Licensed psychotherapist or licensed Associate of Marriage and Family Therapy in State of Georgia.
- Position Titles and Number Supervised: Behavioral Science interns; Family Medicine residents; medical students; in various settings including inpatient and outpatient.
- Special Training/Skills: Research background desired.
