About the role
As a Family Support Specialist, you will be pivotal in supporting children, youth, and families facing life’s toughest challenges. Whether you provide hands-on case management, help to develop life skills, or provide emotional support, your work will directly impact the lives of those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Conducts regular in-home visits that are family-centered, strength-based, and directed at establishing a trusting relationship.
- Completes the Family Resilience and Opportunities for Growth (FROG) Scale with parents (prenatally and/or immediately after the birth of their child) to determine risk and resiliency factors.
- Regularly assesses the infants and children using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3, ASQ-SE) to determine developmental progress and needs.
- Assesses family needs, develops goals with parents and plans for the accomplishment of those goals in collaboration with the family.
- Provides resources, referrals and information to families as appropriate and supports the families in accessing support services.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s degree in a human service field (i.e., social work, sociology, psychology, early childhood education, child development, family studies) is preferred.
- Experience working with or providing services to children and families required. In-home visiting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of infant and child development either through lived experience or coursework required. Infant Mental Health endorsement preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish), preferred.
- Experience with or knowledge of the child welfare system and/or infants with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid CA Driver License with a minimum of three (3) years good driving history and must be approved by the agency’s insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles.

Pay
The hourly wage range for this role is $24.00 - $25.50.
