Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the transport of homeless individuals and families residing in hotels.
  • Conduct initial diversion/intake screening prior to contacting 211 to verify homelessness eligibility of individuals and families.
  • Support the quarantine placement of COVID individuals and families in DSS-contracted hotels.
  • Respond to all incoming calls from clients and/or providers, complete diversion screening with walk-in clients prior to calling 211 to confirm homelessness eligibility.
  • Pick up clients and transport them to the appropriate shelter as determined by 211/DSS.
  • Support quarantine of COVID clients through proper documentation prior to their hotel placement.
  • Assist with placement, transportation to quarantine, and provide food, hygiene items, ensuring clients know hotel rules.
  • Transport meals/food packages to families staying in hotels, as needed.
  • Work with designated hotel agencies/shelters to provide a warm client handoff.
  • Maintain and update transportation logs and documentation via shift notes.
  • Communicate with other shift Program Associates/Caseworkers/admin to ensure adequate staffing prior to leaving a shift.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. with up to three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience working with the homeless population preferred.
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at clients’ homes and/or community facilities, which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Mobility sufficient to work in an office environment.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, including machines.
  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License and N.Y.S. Central Registry clearance.

Pay

$18.50/hour

Schedule

Full-time position at 40 hours per week.
