Family Services Specialist (Childcare)

About the role

The City of Roanoke is seeking a Family Services Specialist in the Childcare division to support and assist agency clients with personal, social, health, and economic needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates clients' needs for child care services
• Learns and applies complex and detailed program requirements
• Manages electronic files/cases
• Works closely with child care vendors to ensure high-quality services meet family needs
• Shares a 24-hour on-call rotation for Child/Adult Protective Services Hot Line

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a human services field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Possession of a valid driver's license if you do not hold one issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Bilingual, Spanish/English speakers encouraged to apply

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents
• Respond effectively to inquiries orally and in writing
• Present information and respond to questions from groups
