Family Peer Implementation Coordinator

About the Role

The Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships (CYFCP) builds the capacity of families, service providers, researchers, teachers, and communities to promote the well-being of children and youth. The Family Peer Implementation Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination for the implementation of Family Peer services with selected provider agencies, offering training and technical assistance around best practices for Family Peer Support. This role involves developing trainings and certifications aligned with national standards, supporting implementation sites in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating Family Peer Specialists (FPS) to provide direct support to families across North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Family Peer Implementation Technical Assistance (60%)
  • Provide or support provider agencies in identifying training needs to develop the Family Peer Specialist workforce.
  • Offer regular professional development opportunities, including training, conferences, networking, and learning collaboratives.
  • Support the development of parent/family support providers through training and technical assistance.
  • Coordinate and provide training in areas such as organizational development, community development, business practices, service financing, sustainability, leadership development, and recovery programming.
• Build Family Peer Workforce (20%)
  • Identify and link families to NCVA training and employment opportunities.
  • Develop peer support networks across the state.
  • Cultivate leadership and advocacy skills among families and inform them about Family Peer Support.
  • Connect families with lived experience to opportunities for national certification as Family Peer Support Specialists.
• Program Outreach and Information Dissemination (10%)
  • Develop and update content monthly for dissemination via program website, electronic newsletters, and collaboration with federal, state, and local partners (e.g., SAMHSA, NC DMH/DD/SAS, System of Care Collaborative).
  • Provide psychoeducation on the value of lived experience expertise at all levels of partnering agencies.
  • Create a plan for community awareness, outreach, and highlighting the Family Peer role in local implementation sites.
• Evaluation Processes and Other Duties (10%)
  • Collaborate with the evaluation team to ensure consistent and timely data collection.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
  • Work with the evaluator to translate and present quantitative and qualitative data to stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or background in independent academic/instructional activities, a relevant undergraduate degree and 3+ years of experience may substitute.
• Lived experience related to personal and/or caregiving/family experience with a Serious Emotional Disturbance for at least 12 months.
• Experience working in a paid or unpaid Youth/Family Peer Specialist, Navigator, Partner, or similar role.
• Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, organization, and cross-agency collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Family Peer Specialist.
• Experience in a leadership role related to Youth and/or Family Peer Support and/or Education.
