Family Mentor and Support (TM/FPS)

About the Role

As a Family Mentor and Support, you will work closely with children, their parents, and caregivers to provide direct mentorship, skill-building, and support. This position is focused on two primary functions: mentoring children and supporting families in a hybrid setting—including in-home, community-based, and telehealth sessions.

Responsibilities

Mentoring Children

• Develop tailored, individualized lesson plans addressing emotional regulation, social skills, and behavioral development.
• Conduct one-on-one mentoring sessions in the home, community, or via telehealth in a structured, supportive environment.
• Provide behavioral support by helping children develop coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and positive behavioral changes.
• Monitor and document session details, track behavioral progress, and adjust strategies based on observed needs.
• Collaborate with families to ensure consistency between mentoring sessions and at-home support strategies.

Family Support

• Provide guidance and advocacy to parents and caregivers on managing their child’s emotional and behavioral challenges, offering practical strategies and emotional support.
• Assist families in accessing mental health services, educational support, and community resources.
• Support families during crisis situations, including stress management and emotional regulation techniques.
• Collaborate with care coordinators and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care and effective service delivery.
• Maintain flexible scheduling for family support sessions, primarily in mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends.
• Document all family interactions, ensuring clear and timely records of progress, challenges, and outcomes.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience working with children, adolescents, or families, particularly in contexts involving behavioral or emotional challenges.
• Ability to build trust and create a supportive, engaging environment for children and families.
• Strong adaptability to adjust strategies based on each child's and family's unique needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Comfortable collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team with care coordinators and other service providers.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel to client locations.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Schedule

This position requires availability during daytime and evening hours, including at least one weekend day. Schedules are developed based on client needs and business operations and may vary.

Pay

Compensation includes separate rates for direct and indirect client care responsibilities:

• Direct client care: $30.00–$35.00 per hour.
• Indirect client care (documentation, travel time, care coordination, clinical supervision, and required training): $17.05 per hour.
• Mileage reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate.
