Family Medicine Physician (Assistant Professor)

About the Role

This position is with OHSU Family Medicine, part of the OHSU School of Medicine, located at the South Hillsboro Primary Care clinic. The appointee will provide full-spectrum family medicine care, including preventive, primary, and specialty care for patients of all ages. The clinic serves over 120,000 patients annually and is ranked #1 among the nation’s medical school family medicine departments by U.S. News and World Report (2019–2021). This role partners with both OHSU and Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) and supports the university’s missions of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-spectrum family medicine care, including obstetrical (OB) care (strongly preferred but not required).
• Work collaboratively with faculty to maintain an active practice and contribute to a vibrant clinical and academic operation.
• See patients in clinic eight half-days per week, with two half-days reserved for administrative or scholarship duties.
• Meet minimum target patient visit numbers of 8–10 per half-day, depending on patient complexity.
• Maintain complete and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) per OHSU and Family Medicine policies.
• Participate in teaching activities, including resident and student precepting, didactics, and other educational initiatives.
• By mutual agreement, may include inpatient care at HMC and OHSU, with shared call duties among the faculty inpatient call group.
• Participate in expanded access clinic hours, including evenings, weekends, and call coverage.
• Engage in continuing education, professional development, and scholarship.

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
• M.D. or D.O. with completion of an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency.
• Licensed to practice in Oregon.
• Capable of providing comprehensive health services and prescribing all DEA-approved medications.
• Approved staff privileges at OHSU University Hospital, OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center, and other partnered community hospitals.
• Previous work experience in primary care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Obstetrical and maternity training, including management of uncomplicated and high-risk OB, surgical obstetrics, dilatation & curettage, OB and pelvic ultrasound, colposcopy, and family planning.
• Experience performing vasectomies.
• Multilingual abilities.
