Key Responsibilities And Duties

  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees integrated family literacy services aligned with Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) and New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) requirements.
  • Schedules the four required family literacy components: Adult Education and Literacy, Parent Education, Interactive Literacy Activities (PACT Time), and Children's Education.
  • Develops and monitors Family Instructional/Education Plans based on family needs assessments and goals.
  • Mets with students individually and in group settings to establish and monitor educational and career goals.
  • Assists learners in developing executive functioning, study skills, time management, organization, and goal-setting strategies.
  • Provides classroom instruction in Adult Education, including ESL, HSE, literacy, and workforce readiness programming.
  • Develops curriculum, evaluates instructional effectiveness, and assesses student progress using standardized tools.
  • Facilitates Parent Education sessions and Interactive Literacy Activities (PACT Time).
  • Provides guidance to parents on supporting children's literacy development, educational success, and school engagement.
  • Collaborates with instructors and community partners to ensure coordinated, family-centered services.
  • Recruits eligible families through outreach, referrals, presentations, and community engagement activities.
  • Develops and implements retention strategies that encourage participant success and sustained engagement.
  • Maintains participant records, attendance, services, and outcomes using the LACES database and other required systems.
  • Presents reports and documentation required by management, NMHED, and funding agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with FERPA, AEFLA, NMHED policies, grant requirements, and agency procedures.
  • Participates in required NMHED, NCFL, and agency professional development opportunities.
  • Supports testing operations, including candidate check-in, exam administration logistics, troubleshooting, and test security.
  • Provides substitute instruction and testing support during staff shortages, as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of participant, program, and agency information.
  • Responds appropriately and respectfully to cultural differences present among the Agency's service population.
  • Incorporates and demonstrates the mission, vision, core values, and activities of Catholic Charities in a positive and professional manner with staff, participants, community partners, and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in adult education, family literacy, workforce development, or a related field.
  • Experience with ESL, HSE, adult education instruction, and curriculum development required.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including English language learners and underserved communities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships.
  • Experience with data tracking and reporting systems; LACES experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of family literacy models, AEFLA, WIOA, and adult education compliance requirements preferred.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, databases, and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively interact with the public.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Must pass a state-enforced background check.
