Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all aspects of family law: divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, division of assets, spousal support, prenuptial/postnuptial agreements, domestic violence/ restraining orders, and related matters.
- Manage a busy caseload of approximately 30–40 cases — including both short-term and long-term matters.
- Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, financial affidavits, and all relevant documentation.
- Counsel clients through emotionally complex and high-stakes matters with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, paralegals, and other attorneys to ensure smooth case management and client service.
- Maintain timely communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
- Manage file organization, deadlines, budgets, and case strategy independently.
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the relevant state Bar.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-bar experience practicing family law — with a substantial portion of that time devoted to matrimonial, divorce, and family-law litigation.
- Proven trial experience in contested divorce or family law matters (must have handled at least one divorce trial from start to finish).
- Strong ability to manage a heavy caseload (30–40 matters) while maintaining high standards of client service and legal acumen.
- Demonstrated experience handling high-stakes family law cases, including complex asset division, spousal support, custody disputes, and related issues.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional maturity, and ability to counsel clients through difficult and sensitive situations.
- Excellent time management, organizational ability, and capacity to work independently.
- Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and professional ethics.
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience with high-net-worth or complex-asset divorces.
- Experience with mediation, collaborative divorce, or alternative dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with domestic violence, restraining orders, and child-custody/parenting time litigation.
- Experience supervising junior associates/paralegals or support staff.
What the Firm Offers
- Competitive compensation ($100,000–$150,000, depending on experience and caseload).
- Opportunity to manage substantial caseload and develop trial-level experience.
- Independence and autonomy: handle your own files and make strategic decisions.
- A dynamic, family-law–only environment: work with colleagues dedicated solely to divorce and domestic relations matters.
- Supportive infrastructure and experienced colleagues to collaborate with on complex cases.
