About the role

We are looking for a Family Engagement Specialist to join our team at Easterseals Vermont. In this role, you will facilitate family meetings and provide in-home support to strengthen families. You will coach parents to have safe and nurturing time with their children who are placed in DCF custody, support them to meet the needs of their children in the moment, and call extended family members to explore familial support and create genograms. Our work is challenging but rewarding, and we strive to create strong teams where we love to learn and laugh together.

While we work closely with the Department of Children and Families - Family Services Division, we maintain our own separate and comfortable offices.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate family meetings and provide in-home support to strengthen families.
  • Coach parents to ensure safe and nurturing interactions with their children in DCF custody.
  • Support parents in meeting the immediate needs of their children.
  • Contact extended family members to explore familial support and create genograms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field (preferred).
  • Two years of human services experience (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.
  • Reliable vehicle with insurance that meets our coverage limits.
  • Understanding of complex issues facing families, including past trauma, substance use disorders, domestic violence, mental health issues, and generational poverty.

Extensive training and supervision are provided.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Flexibility is preferred to support parents’ individual schedules. We support a healthy work/life balance.

Pay

$22.00 - $25.75 hourly, dependent upon experience and education.
