Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain monthly litigant appointment schedule
  • Conduct comprehensive face to face interviews of litigants (both children and adults) in order to assess psychiatric functioning, relational functioning, parenting skill sets and abilities, strengths, weaknesses, detection and reporting of child abuse/neglect, mental status exam, risk assessment, psychiatric diagnosis, and history
  • Obtain collateral information pertinent to case within the bounds of HIPAA regulations
  • Generate comprehensive written reports summarizing interview and collateral contact information in a timely and well-ordered manner according to deadlines of the court calendar
  • Provide verbal testimony as needed to the courts
  • Participate in meetings

Skills/Competencies

  • Must possess a high level of interpersonal skill
  • Requires superior organizational skills
  • Must be flexible and able to work efficiently in a deadline based environment, and possesses superior writing proficiencies
  • Candidate must also be computer literate, able to independently utilize programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook Express, and Internet

Education Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, or other human services field
  • Licenses in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling

Experience

  • Five years of experience in working with children and families
  • Knowledge of family court system and general social services law helpful

Other Requirements

  • FAMILY COURT ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Compensation

$59,000-$75,000 annually
