Family and Pastoral Care Pastor

About the role

Midway Community Church is a Christ‑centered, medium‑sized Baptist church in Alpharetta, GA, whose mission is to Glorify God by Helping People Follow Jesus locally and around the world. The position provides leadership in family and pastoral care, overseeing the Kidsway children’s ministry, pastoral care activities, and family discipleship initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Organize, market, and run all Kidsway weekly and special events (e.g., Vacation Bible School, Christmas Program with the Worship Pastor)
• Steward the Kidsway budget
• Find, train, encourage, and bring excitement to Kidsway volunteers
• Honor the Lord in Kidsway execution, curriculum, and relationships built
• Continually improve Kidsway ministry, innovating as needed
• Understand the times, pressures, and biblical worldview issues facing kids and their parents
• Encourage, educate, and embolden parents to train up their kids in the Lord
• Help kids (and their parents) understand the Gospel and grow spiritually
• Serve as lead teacher for children in Kidsway Sunday and Wednesday activities
• Promote Sunday School and other church ministries to Kidsway parents
• Coordinate with the Youth Pastor for a consistent, cohesive ministry approach across all ages
• Arrange and assist pastoral staff with hospital and home visits
• Support congregational music needs for weddings and funerals
• Coordinate and arrange benevolence requests with pastoral and office staff
• Welcome and follow up with visitors; minister to those new to the church
• Develop family discipleship programs, especially as they overlap with children and youth ministry
• Give leadership to adult Sunday School assimilation
• Provide occasional pulpit supply
• Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings
• Assist with other church activities as needed, including hospital and home visits when time permits
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor
• Be an active member of Midway Community Church

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; preferably from a Bible college or seminary
• Previous children’s ministry experience
• Love for God’s Word as sufficient, with a consistent hermeneutical approach to the Scriptures
• Maximize ministry effectiveness: balancing family, ministry, and rest
• Demonstrated growth in Christ
• Meet deacon/elder qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3 (for Associate Pastor level)
• Spiritually and professionally accountable to the Midway Elders
• In agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message and the Midway Constitution
• Young Earth creationism and a historical Adam and Eve
• Complementarian view of gender roles within the church
• Cessationist view of miraculous/sign gifts
• Credobaptism and regenerate church membership
• Desire and call to the Great Commission
• Affirm Jesus as fully man and fully God, sinless, the propitiation of sin, and bodily resurrected
