Responsibilities

  • Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in family and consumer sciences, including:
    • Nutrition and healthy living
    • Food preparation and kitchen safety
    • Personal finance and budgeting
    • Consumer awareness
    • Career and life skills
  • Teach computer science and technology skills, including:
    • Computer literacy
    • Keyboarding and digital citizenship
    • Basic coding and programming concepts
    • Microsoft Office and productivity software
    • Internet safety and responsible technology use
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.
  • Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Absess student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, counselors, and families.
  • Integrate assistive technology and teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and special education requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and parent conferences.
  • Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g., first aid, TCI, CPR, emergency procedures, behavior management) to enhance professional skills.
  • Maintain safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field required.
  • Valid teaching certification required.
  • 1+ years of experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs required.
  • 1+ years of experience working with instructional technology and computer applications required.
