Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Develop and deliver engaging FCS instruction aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and school curriculum goals
- Teach courses such as: Nutrition and Culinary Arts, Human Development and Family Studies, Personal Finance and Consumer Education, Life Skills and Independent Living
- Design hands-on, project-based learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to real-world applications
Classroom & Lab Management
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment consistent with LLACS’s values-based culture
- Supervise and manage food preparation labs, classroom projects, and collaborative student activities
- Enforce school-wide expectations for discipline, respect, responsibility, and accountability
Student Development
- Support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth through a relational and supportive teaching approach
- Integrate character education aligned with LLACS’s core values and mission
- Foster leadership, teamwork, and responsibility in all classroom activities
Assessment & Communication
- Assess student learning using performance tasks, projects, tests, and formative assessments
- Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student achievement and behavior
Collaboration & School Involvement
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives
- Participate in professional development and school-wide training sessions
- Support school culture initiatives and student engagement programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, Career and Technical Education, or related field
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Family and Consumer Sciences or eligibility to obtain certification
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to maintain structured learning environments
- Experience with hands-on or lab-based instruction preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to values-based education and student development
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching FCS or related CTE courses at the middle or high school level
- Experience managing culinary or life skills labs
- Experience working in urban or diverse school settings
- Strong background in project-based or experiential learning
