Fall News Intern
About the role
The WTAE-TV internship program offers a 12-week paid opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience in the Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 newsroom. Students will engage in various aspects of news production, including TV producing, reporting, news gathering, and all-platform news writing and editing.
Responsibilities
- Gain experience in TV producing, reporting, news gathering, and all-platform news writing and editing.
- Work closely with assignment desk editors and producers to newsgather, produce, write, and present news content.
- Be introduced to every aspect of news operation, including news producing, digital content creation, assignment desk operations, news photography, news editing, and broadcast production.
Qualifications
- Ambitious, reliable, and enthusiastic college students with some classroom experience in broadcast journalism.
- Preference given to those with demonstrated interest in news through classwork or student organization participation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Desire to learn new skills and understand how a newscast comes together from the ground up.
- Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Possess a positive, professional attitude.
- Pay close attention to detail.
- Willingness to work different times of day.

Schedule
Interns will work 16-24 hours per week during the Fall 2026 session, running from August 31 to November 20, 2026.
Pay
