Fall 2026/Spring 2027 Psych Adjunct Assistant Professor

St. John's University Center for Psychological Services seeks a licensed psychologist to provide on-site clinical supervision to doctoral candidates in psychology for three hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide group supervision to doctoral trainees on psychological and psychoeducational assessment cases, including test selection, administration, scoring, interpretation, and report writing
• Review and co-sign trainee assessment reports/clinical documentation, ensuring clinical accuracy, ethical compliance, and adherence to professional writing standards
• Conduct live or recorded observation of trainee testing sessions and provide constructive, competency-based feedback
• Monitor trainee progress toward assessment-related competencies and provide input for formal evaluations

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in New York state (or license-eligible with licensure within a specified probationary period), in good standing with the state psychology board
• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-accredited (or equivalent) doctoral program
• Post-licensure experience administering, scoring, and interpreting a broad range of psychological and psychoeducational assessment instruments (e.g., cognitive, personality, neuropsychological, and diagnostic measures), with demonstrated expertise in integrating findings into comprehensive reports
• Experience providing clinical supervision to doctoral trainees or postdoctoral fellows, ideally with formal supervision training or certification
• High-level writing and reasoning skills
• Ideally, the instructor will have taken the course previously
• Must be able to work with other instructors running other sections

Pay

Compensation starts at $7,624 ($1,906 per credit for a four-credit course) for the 15-week semester.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the per-credit salary for this position is $1,906.
