Bedford, Massachusetts – Fall 2026 internship (August through December, potential to extend through Spring). Full-time, on-site (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday).

Our innovation team is seeking an undergraduate mechanical-engineering student for a hands-on internship in our Bedford, MA office.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of iRobot engineers to plan, execute, and document innovation workstreams.
  • Test and evaluate robotic components and subsystems.
  • Assemble and/or refurbish prototypes for testing.
  • Provide feedback, analyze, and debug performance-related issues.
  • Provide Computer-Aided Design (CAD) support for design changes and participate in design reviews.
  • Analyze robotic components.
  • Design and manufacture test fixtures for engineers.
  • Develop test metrics and run tests that evaluate new designs.
  • Research new technologies or study fielded examples of relevant adjacent technologies.
  • Write reports to document how the robot satisfies given requirements.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Outstanding academic record.
  • Broad scholastic experience in multiple disciplines.
  • Experience with various manufacturing methods, including machine-shop equipment and 3D printing.
  • Project or work experience using CAD systems such as CREO.
  • Aptitude and desire to work in a dynamic, self-motivated, action-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Comfortable exploring work tasks, seeking out answers, and working independently when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Mandarin fluency a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; we are unable to sponsor additional employment visas at this time.

Pay

$17.55 – $25.00 per hour.
