Fall 2026 AI Lead Instructor - in-person in San Francisco, CA

About the role

Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit dedicated to providing hands-on computer science and AI education to Bay Area youth. Our programs include semester- and year-long introductory coding courses, self-paced learning, workshops, and more.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love.
• Prepare and facilitate two lessons per week to a diverse group of learners, adjusting lessons to meet students' learning needs.
• Ensure students develop sufficient understanding to complete their final project, which will be showcased at our Demo Day.
• Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students.

Requirements

• Experience in teaching, instruction, or mentoring, including leadership roles.
• Experience working with youth, especially in an educational setting.
• Some experience with AI or relevant coding languages/software.
• Values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for sharing CS knowledge.
• Experience effectively working on a team for technical projects.
• Comfortable in public speaking situations and strong communication skills.
• Experience working with a diverse group of individuals.
• Self-starting and able to work autonomously.

Benefits

Schedule

The schedule is subject to minor changes. Employment Contract: August 27 - December 10, 2026. Hours: 7 +/- hours per week.

Training and Onboarding

• August 27 - September 3, 2026, generally between 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM.
• Remote: August 27, August 31, and September 2.
• In-person at Mission Bit Office: September 1 and 3.
• Classroom site visits will be hosted between August 31 - September 3, 2026.

Weekly Schedule

• Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Demo Day

December 4, 2026 (TBD).

Instructor Circles

• Mondays: 3:15 PM - 4:00 PM via Zoom.

End-of-Semester Wrap-Up

December 7 - 10, 2026.
