Fair Barn Office Assistant (part-time)

About the role

This is a part-time position with no guarantee of hours worked. The employee assists with development, promotion, and organization of the Fair Barn events. Responsibilities include promoting and booking rentals, providing technical and logistical support for events and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Works with clients/customers to arrange and follow through on all details of event operations as assigned.
  • Follow-up on customer inquiries, provide facility tours as directed.
  • Communicates with client renters.
  • Secures facility after each event including locking all doors and windows, turning off all lights, etc.
  • Provides information regarding external services available for event planning such as florists, caterers, entertainment, etc.
  • Informs supervisor of customer complaints including details of each situation and external vendors involved if appropriate.
  • Solves customer complaints with input from the Special Events Coordinator as needed.
  • Performs other assignments and special projects as required.

  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Able to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.

Qualifications

  • High school degree.
  • Additional education and/or experience in the hospitality or events industry is preferred.

Skills

  • Effective visual perception for making observations including distinguishing colors, performing visual and physical inspections of event set-up, use of measurement devices.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, kneeling, speaking, hearing and manual dexterity to arrange small details of event set-up.
  • Ability to perform moderate work exerting up to 25 lbs. of force, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Skills and Abilities

  • Understand the complete working of the building including: heat/air conditioning, circuit breakers, audio system, stage lighting, security system, kitchen equipment.

Safety

This position requires enforcing and following all Village of Pinehurst and OSHA safety regulations.

Physical Requirements

  • Effective visual perception is needed for making observations including distinguishing colors, performing visual and physical inspections of event set-up, use of measurement devices.
  • Work is performed at various dates, times and locations, based on business need.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, kneeling, speaking, hearing and manual dexterity to arrange small details of event set-up.
  • Must be able to perform moderate work exerting up to 25 lbs. of force, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Minimum And Preferred Qualifications

  • High school degree.
  • Additional education and/or experience in the hospitality or events industry is preferred.
