About the role

The Fair Barn is seeking a part-time Event Set-Up Crew Member to assist with preparing their historic venue for various gatherings and celebrations. The position requires flexibility, professionalism, and hands-on experience setting up and breaking down events.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, break-down, and store tables and chairs, stage and event equipment before and after scheduled events.
  • Arrange set-up for events precisely as directed verbally or by written diagram.
  • Maintain storage of tables, chairs, and other event materials and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Report any damaged or faulty equipment to supervisor.
  • Solve customer complaints with input from the Special Events Coordinator as needed.
  • Perform other assignments and special projects as required.

Requirements

  • High school degree and driver's license are required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work consistently for 3-4 hours.
  • Must have stamina and manual dexterity to work for long periods.
  • Must have effective visual perception for making observations and arranging event set-up.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, bend, kneel, speak, hear, and use manual dexterity.

Qualifications

  • Experience in set-up, break-down, and storage of tables, chairs, and stage equipment before and after scheduled events.

Skills

  • Ability to report to work promptly and when scheduled.
  • Ability to project a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and timelines.
  • High level of customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, staff, peers, and management.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer requests related to event venues.
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and perform duties with minimal supervision.
