Faculty - School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics - Diagnostic Medical Sonography General

About the role

The School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics (SMIT) seeks a 9-month full-time faculty member to deliver high-quality learning experiences and education for students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - General program. The faculty member will engage in teaching and service activities, collaborate with colleagues across the university, and work closely with the Dean of SMIT and the Program Director of the DMS General program. The incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact, and reputation of the university and its programs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver didactic, laboratory, and/or experiential instruction via multiple formats (in-person, online, or blended) in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography General Program.
• Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
• Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
• Participate in specific service activities, including attending School and institutional activities such as faculty meetings, Commencement, and awards ceremonies.
• Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials, and to communicate with students.
• Advise and assist students through office hours, scheduled appointments, phone, email, or other University-approved mechanisms.
• Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
• Attend and participate in monthly School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events.
• Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
• Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
• Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations involved with the healthcare sector.
• Teach at least two to three classes per semester or as determined by program leadership.
• Assist in the development of community contacts, externship site set-up, community involvement, student service learning, and interprofessional activities.
• Assist with the coordination of Advisory Board meetings at least once per year.
• Maintain the continuity and relevance of the program curriculum.
• Assist the Dean, Program Director, and faculty with the maintenance of continued accreditation and annual reporting.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
