Job Summary

The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a full-time faculty position in the Department of Radiology for a neuroradiologist with subspecialty training in Neuroradiology.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be a clinician scientist whose career goals include both outstanding clinical service in neuro-oncologic imaging and innovative research that advances the field of neuro-oncologic and catastrophic disease imaging. A commitment to education is also highly valued and expected. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Department Overview

  • Focused primarily on pediatric neuro-oncologic imaging
  • Serves cancer survivor research participants and patients with hematologic, infectious, and rare neurologic diseases
  • Rich opportunities for collaboration and developing imaging biomarkers and endpoints
  • Supports a tumor metrics (response evaluation) lab and receives assistance from three physicists who provide expertise in MRI and CT
  • Interprets predominantly MRI exams and some CT exams using the latest imaging technologies
  • Utilizes a photon-counting CT scanner coming online in early 2026
  • Has a dedicated cyclotron and extended field-of-view PET/CT scanner
  • Engaged in advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and quantitative imaging to improve patient care and research
  • Harnesses the power of imaging informatics and AI to accelerate research, clinical care, and translational efforts in pediatric radiology

Research

  • Access to IQAI and the Radiology Data Center for data science and quantitative imaging research
  • Support from dedicated staff for grant writing, IRB management, clinical research coordinators, image processing, and biostatistics
  • Opportunities to develop novel imaging biomarkers and AI tools that impact patient care, clinical trials, population science, and research
  • Internal institutional funding opportunities and support from mentorship and infrastructure aimed at securing extramural grants from agencies such as the NIH, foundations, and industry partners

Education

  • Teaching and mentoring radiology fellows, radiology residents, medical students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows
  • Support for professional development through travel funds for faculty presentations at national and international conferences
  • Hosts an annual international educational conference and a separate scientific symposium

Requirements

  • An MD, DO or equivalent degree
  • Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Radiology
  • Experience in pediatric neuroradiology
  • Qualification for medical licensure in the State of Tennessee
