About the role
Full-time MSN Core Courses Faculty position in the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions, which has a rich 30-year history of providing outstanding health care and nursing degree programs. This role supports the university’s distinct Christian beliefs and qualifies for health benefits and the employee tuition benefit. Reports to the Lead Faculty of the MSN Core Program. Target start is immediate.
Responsibilities
- Teach 12 MSN Core Courses per year (2 every 8 weeks), teaching each course at least twice (NUR-513, NUR-514, NUR-550, NUR-590; A-Core Courses added in 2027; current core ends December 2026).
- Mentor and train new and existing faculty.
- Participate in course revisions as a subject-matter expert.
- Gather and collect instructional documents and teaching tools from instructors; update the CIRT folder every 6 months.
- Conduct quarterly MSN Core Curriculum Meetings.
- Communicate college and program updates to course faculty as needed.
- Respond to and manage classroom faculty and student concerns.
- Analyze course data in collaboration with the program lead when requested.
- Provide leadership, management, and direction to course faculty.
- Identify faculty teaching other sections of the course via the faculty dashboard and send a welcome/intro email of support.
- Communicate in a respectful, professional manner to foster collaboration with faculty, supervising dean, staff, and other GCU departments.
- Serve as the first contact for faculty and/or student concerns.
- Communicate student issues to the appropriate college/university department for resolution.
- Collaborate regularly with MSN Core program lead faculty on all responsibilities.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission.
Requirements
- Doctorate preferred; MSN required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in a university setting.
- Required work experience in graduate or DNP nursing online teaching.
- Active, current, unrestricted, and unencumbered multistate RN license.
- Excellent communication and team skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, preceptors, faculty, and college and university leaders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must successfully pass a drug test.
