Faculty Leader for the Alzheimer’s Disease Institute Based Program
Job Description
The University of Florida and the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases seek a talented clinician-researcher or basic researcher to lead the comprehensive Alzheimer’s, memory and dementia program. The position will include a large endowed chair, space and a generous start-up package as well as leadership of a large existing group. This position has the potential to assume the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) directorship.
The Norman Fixel Institute features a state-of-the-art campus dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions. The Institute has in place a fully functioning clinic that is an “all under one roof” interdisciplinary clinical-research center. The Institute campus boasts thousands of square feet available for research. The University of Florida is also home to the McKnight Brain Institute, a free-standing Neuromedicine Hospital, and a State of Florida-funded Memory Disorders Center, as well as fellowship training programs in Alzheimer’s disease and behavioral neurology.
The university consistently ranks among the top 10 in NIH funding for neuroscience and neurology research. This leadership role offers immediate opportunities for collaboration across a robust research and clinical ecosystem at the University of Florida. The selected individual will hold joint appointments and benefit from close partnerships with the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases and the McKnight Brain Institute, ensuring access to shared resources and an actively engaged research community.
We are seeking a visionary leader in Alzheimer’s research and patient care. Academic rank (Associate or Full Professor), track (tenure or non-tenure), and departmental home will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and alignment with institutional priorities.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a M.D., or M.D.-Ph.D.
Preferred Qualifications
Success in obtaining extramural funding is highly desired.
