About the role
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh (Oakland Campus) is seeking up to nine Visiting Laboratory Instructor positions starting on August 15, 2026. These positions are for one academic year and are not part of the tenure stream.
Responsibilities
- Teach four laboratory and recitation sections per week (or equivalent)
- Assist with grading, office hours, and other related activities
- Mentor graduate student teaching assistants
- Contribute to the administrative aspects of a vibrant and large laboratory instruction program
Requirements
- Earned a minimum of a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited university
- Demonstrated experience teaching university chemistry laboratories
- Special awareness of chemical safety practices
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline
Skills
- Effective teaching skills
- Experience with laboratory management
- Ability to mentor students
