Faculty-Electrical Systems Technology

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a full-time instructor for our Electrical Systems Technology program. This is a 9-month faculty position reporting to the Lead ELC Instructor and the Program Chair of Construction Technology.

About the Role

Instructors will lead students through all facets of the Electrical Systems Technology (ELC) program, including AC/DC theory, wiring, and industrial motor controls to prepare students for technical careers.

Responsibilities

• Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
• Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
• Update, communicate, and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
• Work collaboratively with the College’s support services to identify and address students’ academic support needs.
• Utilize College technology for instruction and operational processes, including the learning management system, email, document management, student information system, and employee portals.
• Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
• Ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
• Support student mentoring, advising, registration, and recruitment efforts as required.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge/skills, utilize required course technology, and maintain licensures (if applicable).
• Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty, and staff.
• Participate in College meetings, events, and committees as required.
• Attend and participate in the annual graduation ceremony.
• Be prepared to give a teaching demonstration on wiring a 3-phase motor.

Requirements

• AAS Degree or higher in Electrical Systems Technology or a related field (AHR, ELN, or ELC Engineering) with a minimum of 14 semester hours of credit (SHC) in ELC from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of documented field experience as an electrician, journeyman electrician, or maintenance electrician employed in a full-time electrical maintenance department.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum seven (7) years of documented residential and/or commercial/industrial installation and/or electrical maintenance experience.
• North Carolina Limited or higher electrical contractor license (or a license from a reciprocating state).

Schedule

Total of 40 hours per week related to college and program business, including office hours to meet with students and handle college-related matters.
