About the role
The Veterinary Technology Faculty Veterinarian provides veterinary care while delivering high-quality instruction, mentorship, and academic support to a student population in the Veterinary Technology Program. This position combines clinical practice with classroom, laboratory, and clinical teaching responsibilities, ensuring compliance with program accreditation standards and course learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provides veterinary care to primarily small animals.
- Prepare and teach courses in the Veterinary Technology Department to a multicultural student population based on the program's approved course learning outcomes and accreditation standards, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students and the standards of the discipline.
- Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level, and other departmental activities.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
- Serve as a mentor and faculty advisor to students in the Veterinary Technology program.
- Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
- Remain current in the field and subject matter of courses taught through a variety of professional development activities.
- Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor.
- Maintain professional development goals and portfolio in accordance with program accreditation standards and college policies.
- Participate in opportunities to promote the program and profession.
- Perform evening and weekend on-call duties.
Requirements
Required Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with current Texas licensure. Required Work Experience: Three years of relevant non-teaching work experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
