To build on a strong foundation of achievement and contribute to the realization of its ambitious institutional goals, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for the position of Faculty Associate School Social Worker (AP27-009).

Responsibilities

• Supports the holistic development of students by addressing their physical, emotional, and academic needs.
• Fosters a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment in collaboration with teachers, staff, and families.
• Provides individualized and group support, promotes positive behavior, and assists students in developing the skills and independence necessary for success.
• Builds strong relationships with students and stakeholders, ensuring students’ academic and behavioral goals are effectively met while cultivating a collaborative and inclusive school community.
• Manages the school’s trusted adult system and mentoring for all students.
• Serves as an advocate for students and families. Identifies and shares resources with families.
• Collaborates with and acts as a liaison with the local school district’s HAT Officer to support and address homeless, attendance, and truancy needs for the students and families at CHS.
• Serves as a key member of teams such as MTSS, PBIS, Attendance, 504, etc.
• Collaborates with outside agencies, organizations, and institutions including both local, federal, and state.
• Aids teachers and staff in addressing behavioral concerns within the classroom to strengthen academics.
• Serves as a resource, support, and assistant to the facility, administration, students, and parents in compliance with Standards to the School Social Worker.
• Aids students with personal/social/academic development.
• Helps students/parents/guardians find and access social services resources to meet individual and small group needs.
• Acts as a resource to school administrators, counselors, teachers, and social service personnel regarding student attendance, monitoring student attendance, and working directly with families when attendance issues prevail.
• Aids students in setting realistic short/long-term goals and works with teachers/counselors to assist students in completing their personal high school (grades 9-12) portfolio.
• Assists students when behavior interferes with academic achievement, college, or career readiness upon graduation.
• Prepares students for college attendance.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times and follows national and state standards for school social workers.
• Maintains professionalism and adheres to professional responsibilities of a faculty associate and an employee of SIUE.

Qualifications

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Work Endorsement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
• Master’s degree in Social Work preferred.
• 2+ years of high school experience.
• Experience with Master Scheduling and working with electronic student data bases.
• Successful experience working with teenagers at risk from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Excellent Written, Verbal, Organizational, and Interpersonal Skills.
• Knowledge of PACE framework.
