About the role

The Touro University Graduate School of Social Work is seeking candidates for a full-time (10-month appointment), on-site Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Work. The successful candidate will teach in multiple modalities including face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous online formats, and exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and engaged scholarship. The role involves curriculum development, student advising, and engagement both in and out of the classroom. Faculty carry a 21-credit workload per academic year, distributed across teaching, scholarship, and service, and participate in MSW program activities such as orientation, community days, committee meetings, and curriculum development.

The mission of the Graduate School of Social Work is to educate graduates for clinical social work practice in urban, multicultural environments, aligned with Touro University’s mission of providing professional education for societal benefit. The program prepares self-reflective professionals to meet complex population needs using person-in-environment, ecological, and strengths-based perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in-person (Manhattan, Brooklyn) and asynchronous/synchronous courses according to workload assignments.
  • Contribute to service at the department, university, and community levels.
  • Engage in research/scholarship, including publications, academic conferences, and funded research.
  • Provide academic advising for students in traditional, on-campus, and online programs.
  • Participate in standing and ad-hoc committees, program events (e.g., orientation, graduation), and community relations.
  • Maintain high engagement and responsiveness during stipulated work hours.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work degree and a Doctorate in a related field (Ph.D. in Social Work or DSW preferred).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of graduate-level teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching HBSE and clinical courses preferred.
  • Evidence of research and scholarly activities.
  • Instructional course design and student advising experience.
  • Proficiency in Canvas, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Zoom.
  • Experience with clinical simulation technology and artificial intelligence is a plus.
  • Social work licensure preferred.

Working Conditions

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 – $100,000 per year (10-month appointment).
