About the Role

The Department of English on the Tempe Campus at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate positions to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, online and/or on-campus in:

  • Creative Writing
  • English Education
  • Film and Media Studies
  • Linguistics and Applied Linguistics
  • Literature
  • Writing, and Rhetorics and Literacies

These positions are one-semester appointments, part-time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Anticipated start dates: Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Summer 2027, and Fall 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students in specified disciplinary areas, including creating lesson plans, evaluating student work, holding office hours (weekly for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes), and other essential teaching functions
  • Use Canvas for assessment of student work
  • Participate in all unit and university assessment activities

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field by the time of appointment
  • Evidence of effective teaching

Desired Qualifications

  • MFA or Ph.D. in a relevant field by the time of appointment
  • Record of scholarly publication and/or professional development in the relevant field
  • Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students, and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter
