About the role
Vanguard University seeks a Nurse-Educator to lead their Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This role involves teaching and mentoring in a warm and diverse community committed to following Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily coordination of BSN program operations, ensuring consistent execution of policies, schedules, and processes.
- Oversee course scheduling, clinical and lab coordination, faculty teaching assignments, and coverage plans.
- Maintain program readiness for regulatory and accreditation expectations by supporting documentation, compliance tracking, and continuous quality improvement.
- Career progression processes, including progression checkpoints, remediation pathways, and retention supports.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for student issues requiring program-level coordination; escalate complex matters to the Director as appropriate.
- Support admissions, orientation, and student communication workflows in collaboration with Admissions and Student Services.
- Lead BSN faculty operational coordination, including course lead meetings, exam/assessment coordination, clinical evaluation consistency.
- Promote consistency across sections in course delivery, grading practices, clinical evaluation tools, and student communication.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new and adjunct faculty; coordinate peer support, teaching resources, and compliance training.
- Support implementation of the BSN curriculum, including alignment of course objectives, learning activities, clinical experiences, and program outcomes.
- Participate in curriculum review and revision processes, including mapping to professional standards and Essentials/QSEN as used by the program.
- Teach assigned undergraduate Medical-Surgical Nursing didactic and/or clinical/lab sections, as determined by program need.
- Develop and deliver instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies and active learning methodologies.
- Contribute to simulation and skills development activities when assigned, collaborating with the Simulation Coordinator.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution (or higher).
- Active, unencumbered California RN license (or eligibility to obtain).
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing (or closely related adult health area).
- Prior teaching experience in nursing education (academic or staff development), with demonstrated effectiveness.
- Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills, including ability to coordinate complex schedules and operational workflows.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Commitment to student success and the mission and values of Vanguard University.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, EdD) in Nursing or related field.
- Prior experience in program leadership (course lead, program coordinator, chair/coordinator, assistant director).
- Experience with simulation-based education and clinical evaluation frameworks.
