About the role
This position involves teaching assigned courses in media and communications, utilizing various teaching methods and assessments to support student learning. The successful candidate will prepare and deliver course content, maintain course sites in the learning management system, and communicate with students as needed.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses by delivering appropriate course content, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing feedback, and addressing student questions and concerns
- Prepare and maintain course sites in the learning management system for course materials, assessments, and updating the grade center
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance
- Distribute a university-approved syllabus to each student via the learning management system, including course objectives, texts, attendance policy, and evaluation criteria
- Communicate with students, department chairs, and academic counselors regarding their progress and needs
- Refer students to appropriate university resources for support
- Populate the university’s faculty information system with necessary data to establish teaching credentials and maintain data as needed
- Attend faculty orientation and meetings as requested
Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree in media, communications, or 18 graduate credits in the discipline from a regionally accredited institution
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Ability to teach daytime, campus-based classes in Charlotte, N.C.
- Commitment to working effectively with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned terminal degree in media, communications, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience with teaching
