About the role
This position involves preparing and delivering relevant course content using various teaching methods and assessments to support student learning. The successful candidate will ensure students achieve and demonstrate mastery of stated learning objectives.
Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses by delivering appropriate course content, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing feedback, and addressing student questions and concerns
- Maintains course site in the learning management system for course materials, assessments, and updates the grade center
- Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance
- Distributes a university-approved syllabus to each student via the learning management system, including course objectives, texts, attendance policy, materials required for the course, and evaluation criteria
- Communicates with students, department chairs, and academic counselors to address any issues or concerns
- Refers students to appropriate university resources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career services, library services, academic support, accessibility services, counseling, and other support services
- Populates the university’s faculty information system with data to establish teaching credentials and maintains data as needed
- Attends faculty orientation and meetings as requested by the college
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree in English or 18 graduate credits in the discipline plus a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
- Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations

- Minimum of a master’s degree in English or a related field of study
- Experience with teaching
