Summary

The Factory Technician will repair, adjust, and maintain seafood processing machinery and related equipment in a shore plant production facility including pumps, motors, conveyors, gears, hydraulic systems and pneumatic equipment, heading, gutting, fillet and mince machines.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance and repair requirements on motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and production machines as directed. - Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and applying precision measuring and testing instruments. - Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. - Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges. - Performs routine daily maintenance and adjustments to equipment as required to meet production goals and requests. - Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

- High School diploma or GED required. - 2 years’ experience in applicable position or similar experience or applicable accredited technical training preferred.

Additional eligibility requirements (language skills, training, certifications, DL, licensing)

- HAZWOPER certified or ability to get certified in 1 year

Work environment (includes travel/on-call)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
