About the role

Help each student learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as a mature, capable, and responsible adult. Provide a positive, healthy, and safe environment in which students can achieve their maximum potential. Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each student.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interest.
• Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Create an engaging classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth.
• Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for college and career readiness.
• Communicate clearly in verbal and written formats with students, parents, and teammates.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to meet student needs.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available time for instruction.
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing protocol.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds.

Requirements

• Possess or be eligible to receive a Colorado Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement. The license must be held within 30 days of the start date.
• Meet "in-field" status by being endorsed in the content area, having passed the currently-accepted Praxis exam(s) in the content area, and/or having 24 semester credits in the content area as identified by the Colorado Department of Education.
• Transcripts required. Applicants may redact dates (e.g., birth, attendance, graduation) on uploaded transcripts or certifications; un-redacted copies will be requested if an employment offer is extended.
• Criminal background check and district fingerprinting required.
