Facility Technician/Electrician

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facility Technician / Electrician to oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall functionality of our ship breaking facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facility electrical systems, equipment, lighting, and power distribution.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform preventative maintenance.
• Coverage and oversee facility repairs including water leaks, plumbing issues, electrical repairs, and general building maintenance.
• Ensure facility operations comply with safety standards and company policies.
• Inspect facility equipment and systems to identify maintenance needs.
• Coverage with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
• Maintain maintenance logs, repair records, and inspection reports.
• Respond quickly to emergency maintenance situations.
• Aid with maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Support operational departments with facility-related needs.
• Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and electrical materials.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance work are completed efficiently and timely.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience in industrial maintenance, facility maintenance, or electrical work is required.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and industrial maintenance practices is preferred.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and schematics is preferred.
• Experience operating hand and power tools safely is required.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks is required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
• Experience in industrial, marine, shipyard, or heavy equipment environments is preferred.

• Work Environment: Scrap yard, large equipment metal processing area
• Equipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical
• Safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians
• Physical Demand Level: Moderate
• Work Capacity: Lifting & carrying 35lb loads, bending, kneeling, awkward positions, long periods on feet
• Sensory Demands: Hearing, vision, smell, touch and taste
• Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, gripping, twisting
