About the role
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing building systems, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This position performs preventive maintenance, responds to repair requests, and supports facility operations across Ashley Furniture's manufacturing, warehouse, and office spaces.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, and dock equipment
- Maintain building infrastructure including doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, roofing, lighting systems, electrical panels, and power distribution equipment
- Service critical building systems including boilers, cooling systems, compressed air systems, fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms), and overhead doors/dock levelers
- Execute preventive maintenance program following scheduled tasks, inspecting equipment to identify potential failures, lubricating machinery, changing filters, and tracking performance in CMMS
- Maintain safety and regulatory compliance by conducting regular inspections, following OSHA standards and building codes, maintaining lockout/tagout procedures, and identifying/correcting safety hazards
- Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and work orders; coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
- Monitor energy efficiency by identifying improvement opportunities, adjusting building systems for optimal performance, and replacing inefficient equipment
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly, participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies, and provide backup support to other maintenance staff
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, or industrial maintenance
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and work at heights using ladders and lifts
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred
- Technical school training or apprenticeship in electrical, HVAC, or industrial maintenance
- EPA certification for HVAC refrigerant handling
- Forklift and aerial lift certification
- Welding certification or demonstrated welding skills
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Boiler operator license
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments
