Facility System Technician ( Part-Time, Days)

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours a week:

  • Sunday and Monday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting – Evaluate maintenance problems and take corrective action efficiently and professionally.
  • Mechanical – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general mechanical maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • Repair of beds, hand controls, and pillow speakers
    • Removal and/or replacement of small motors
    • Repair of medium appliances and/or machinery
    • Repair of building elements and/or furnishings
  • Electrical – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general electrical maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • Change and/or repair switches, outlets, and plugs
    • Change lighting tubes, bulbs, and ballasts
    • Perform electrical safety checks of hospital and patient-owned equipment
    • Replace TVs
    • Basic troubleshooting and repair of small to medium electrical equipment (e.g., contractors, motor starters, timers)
  • Emergency Duties:
    • Snow – Remove ice and snow from areas owned and operated by the Medical Center
    • Fire – Respond and assist to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff, including proper use of fire extinguishers
    • Natural Disasters – Provide aid and assistance during disasters and participate in disaster plans
  • Plumbing – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general plumbing maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • Rebuild and/or replace plumbing fixtures such as flushometers, faucets, and filters, including stems, washers, and seats
    • Unclog drains and lines of sinks, toilets, bedpan flushers, ice machines, and refrigerator units using hand plungers and/or power snake equipment
    • Solder copper pipe (water and feed lines) and layout/fabrication of black pipe
  • Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC/R) – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general HVAC/R maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • Clean and/or replace filters as needed
    • Adjust and repair individual heater/AC units
    • Basic diagnosis and repair of AC refrigeration units
    • Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance (PM) on large HVAC/R equipment (e.g., bearings, belts, motors, lubrication)
  • Paint/Finish Work – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate competency in general painting and finish work, including but not limited to:
    • Prepare and paint most surfaces
    • Apply rubber cove base and prepare surfaces for installation
    • Replace damaged or missing ceiling tiles and/or lay track
    • Replace damaged or missing floor tiles and/or install flooring from start
  • Lock and Hardware Work – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate competency in general key, lock, and hardware work, including but not limited to:
    • Repair and/or replace lock mechanisms in doors, casework, and file cabinets
    • Repair and/or replace all types of door hardware and adjust for proper operation
    • Cut and code keys
  • Demolition and Construction – Apply knowledge of and demonstrate basic competency in general demolition and construction work, including but not limited to:
    • Remove piping, electrical wiring, and/or building material to facilitate repairs, removal, or replacement
    • Reapply insulating or building materials after repairs (e.g., pipe insulation, ceiling tile, drywall)
    • Cutting, welding, and simple fabrication/repair using oxygen/acetylene, electric arc, or heliarc equipment
  • Carpentry:
    • Installation of floor and wall tiles
    • Grouting/sealing of floor and wall tiles

Requirements

  • Maintains a valid Driver’s License (required); CDL license a plus
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Four-year apprenticeship and/or 6+ years of general maintenance experience or equivalent
  • Experience in a related specialty (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R)

Pay

Salary Range: $23.10 - $36.83/hour. As part of the job offer, successful candidates are provided a specific rate, taking into consideration various factors including experience and education.
