The successful candidate must complete position qualifications and have the ability to act for the Facility Shift Manager.
Apply basic knowledge of equipment and maintenance of equipment and systems under direction of lead engineer.
Provide operational support to technical work crews.
Maintain applicable operating procedures.
Perform routine administrative duties, such as development of purchase requisitions, training materials and completions of operating logs and records.
The preferred candidate will possess strengths in the following areas, operation of HVAC systems with digital controls, 13.8kv substations and distribution systems, vacuum systems, compressed air distribution and other systems required to operate the WIPP Site. Must be able to obtain and maintain Emergency Response Team training and qualifications standards and respond to emergencies. Must be able to obtain and maintain respiratory qualifications.
Three (3) years of nuclear project experience (or equivalent) will be required in order to become fully qualified.
Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree, or
An Associate’s degree with four (4) years of experience, or
A High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of experience is required.
Candidates must have a working knowledge of plant equipment and system operations.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
Knowledge of regulatory and radiological control procedures is strongly preferred.
Three (3) years of nuclear experience is preferred.
Emergency response experience is preferred.
Working knowledge of the site configuration control, DSA and USQ process is preferred.
Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
