About the role
This role serves as the on-site subject matter expert for data center critical systems including power, cooling, and building infrastructure. The Facility Operation Lead acts as the primary technical partner during commissioning, risk assessment, and change management processes. They lead efforts to audit and improve maintenance programs, ensuring adherence to operational standards. They manage high-risk maintenance activities, overseeing change processes and incident response. Collaboration with vendors, colo partners, and internal teams is essential for maintaining site reliability and incorporating operational learnings into design improvements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site subject matter expert for data center critical systems including power, cooling, and building infrastructure.
- Act as the primary technical partner during commissioning, risk assessment, and change management processes.
- Lead efforts to audit and improve maintenance programs, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
- Manage high-risk maintenance activities, overseeing change processes and incident response.
- Collaborate with vendors, colo partners, and internal teams to maintain site reliability and incorporate operational learnings into design improvements.
Requirements
- 4+ years’ experience operating, maintaining, and leading critical-facilities operations in a live data center, owning the physical infrastructure.
- 4+ years’ experience owning risk and change management for high-risk work & experience holding partners accountable for maintenance standards.
- 2+ years’ experience operating critical infrastructure stack as on-site authority and handling escalations for power and cooling systems.
- Must have experience working within hyperscale, AI data centers, or colocation operations.
- Experience auditing, documenting, and improving operational procedures to enhance the site’s performance.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and building systems.
- Experience with risk and change management processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage high-risk maintenance activities and handle incident response.
- Experience with vendor management and colocation operations.
